چکیده

Abstract Ophiolitic mélanges in Anatolia represent Mesozoic subduction-accretion complexes, which are unusually poor land-derived coarse-clastic rocks. A segment of the ophiolitic mélange Beynam region south Ankara was studied. The consists three accretionary units (AUs), distinguished by lithology, structure, age and geochemistry. At base there is a serpentinite mélange, overlain semi-intact Upper Jurassic ophiolite with boninite topmost AU ocean-island-like alkali basalts seamount-derived Triassic shallow-marine limestones radiolarian cherts, stratigraphically Cretaceous fore-arc turbidites. sequence palaeontologically isotopically dated to early middle Campanian ( c . 81 Ma). Detrital zircons from indicate Late (87–81 Ma) magmatic arc as source. formation complex two-stage process. first stage took place during – Early Cretaceous, when supra-subduction type oceanic crust generated, subduction accretion intra-oceanic. In second jumped inboard, creating an Andean-type convergent margin, incorporated complex. lack sandstones can be attributed intra-oceanic limestone deposition upper plate main phase Cretaceous.

Tectonic evolution of the Khoy ophiolitic complex, NW Iran

The Khoy Ophiolitic Complex (KOC) as a part of Tethyan, Izmir-Ankara- Erzincan and Bitlis-Zagros sutures of South East (SE) Turkey is broadly exposed around Khoy region (NW Iran). This complex comprises dismembered fragments of mantle lithosphere, obducted oceanic lithosphere and parts of volcanic arc remnants. The Khoy Ophiolitic Complex can be structurally divided into two major eastern and w...

The Beyşehir–Hoyran–Hadim Nappes: genesis and emplacement of Mesozoic marginal and oceanic units of the northern Neotethys in southern Turkey

The Beyşehir–Hoyran–Hadim Nappes crop out over 700 km from NW to SE. Above a regionally autochthonous Tauride carbonate platform the Beyşehir–Hoyran Nappes begin with a thrust sheet (c. 400 m) of mainly redeposited carbonates, quartzose sandstones and mudstones of Mid–Late Triassic age, interpreted as a proximal slope–base-of-slope succession. Above is a thrust sheet (c. 1 km) of Middle–Upper T...

Time Relations and Structural-Stratigraphic Patterns in Ophiolite Accretion, West Central Klamath Mountains, California

New geochronological data and published structural and stratigraphic data show that two distinctly different ophiolitic assemblages formed in general proximity to one another at nearly the same time and were subsequently imbricated along a regional thrust zone. The Josephine ophiolite constitutes a complete oceanic crust and upper mantle sequence which lies within the western Jurassic belt of t...

Chromespinel and Magnetite as Indicators for Recognition of Genesis and History of Serpentinites in Baft Ophiolite Mélange (Kerman Province in Iran)

Baft ophiolite mélange is a part of Naein-Baft ophiolite (southeast of Kerman province in Iran). Serpentinites from Baft ophiolite mélange contain different types of spinels such as chromite, chromespinel, ferritchromite and magnetite which can reveal different stages of evolution in host serpentinites. The compositions of Baft chromites show that they belong to podiform chromitites that may ha...
